Aditya Anand/Godda: The sweet and sour flavoured Pepsi ice cream sold in the markets of Godda has made a special identity not only among children but also among adults. This ice cream reminds people of the summers of the 90s, when it was sold by roaming around on bicycles. Available at a cheap price and in various flavours, this ice cream remains a centre of attraction for people even today. These Pepsi tubes, which come in sweet and sour Pepsi, cola, mango, orange, litchi and milk flavours, are available for just Rs 5, which along with old memories, is providing a cheap and fun option of cooling to the children.

It is very popular in rural areas

Ice cream seller Fantush Yadav, who hails from Banka district of Bihar, says that earlier he used to work as a labourer in other states but now he earns 800 to 1000 rupees daily by selling Pepsi. He has a small mobile fridge on his cart, which helps in keeping the ice cream cool and he sells it by roaming around in villages and towns.

While expensive and new flavoured ice creams have almost made such cheap ice creams disappear in big cities, this ice cream is still very popular in rural areas.
