Rishabh Chaurasia/Lucknow: Every person has some hobby in his life but some people’s hobbies are unique. A hobby that becomes a passion and a passion that preserves history. This is the story of Kalidas, a resident of Lucknow, who spent most of his life collecting postage stamps from around the world. Kalidas has postage stamps of more than 60 countries of the world, which include stamps of rare and historical importance which are no longer seen anywhere else in the world.
This unique hobby was started by Kalidas inspired by his grandfather and father. He says that his hobby is his father’s legacy, which he not only maintained but also enhanced. That is why today he has a collection of almost all the important postage stamps issued in India and different countries of the world (Canada, Australia, Yemen, Scotland and other countries).
Rare stamps included
The collection includes special and rare stamps such as those issued during the First World War and those depicting important events of a country. Many of these stamps have now gone out of print, making them extremely valuable. Today, these rare stamps are found only in the hands of a select few and are not easily seen. These stamps are a precious treasure for collectors and their limited availability makes them even more valuable.
Maintaining tickets is challenging
Kalidas says that now he wants to sell his collection, because at the age of 70 it is becoming very difficult for him to handle it. At the same time, he believes that there are many people around the world who collect these types of stamps. In today’s time, people of the new generation are deeply interested in this hobby. If you want to buy old things from them then you have to come to Kalika Art and Craft, Moti Mahal Bridge. You can easily reach it by auto cab from Charbagh Railway Station.
