The most special thing about gunde is that its pickle does not spoil for many months. People make it and send it to their family members. It is amazing in taste. Housewife Durga Devi says that gunde comes in the market from March to May and this is the best time to make pickle.

While on one hand vegetable is also made from gunde, people mostly like to eat it in the form of pickle. Its pickle adds beauty to the food plate and is very delicious in taste. Even if there is no vegetable in your plate, it can be eaten with roti. Gunde pickle does not spoil for about 6 months and it can be easily carried on long journeys.

Make Gunda Pickle like this
Durga Devi Paik says that to make the pickle of Gunda, heat water for soaking on gas and put the Gunda in hot water and cook for some time until about 50% of the Gunda melts. Then take it out and keep it in a strainer so that the water drains out properly. Leave it in the fava for a while. After this, roast all the spices and grind them coarsely.

Heat mustard oil in a vessel and then let it cool down slowly. Then mix mustard seeds, yellow mustard seeds, fennel seeds, salt, red chillies, Kashmiri red chilli powder, turmeric powder in mustard oil. When the pickle cools down, fill it in a pickle container and keep stirring it for a few days. Its most special thing is that it does not spoil for about 6 months.
