How are these clouds formed?
The Rock of Gibraltar is known for producing ‘banner clouds’, LiveScience reports. When the wind hits the top of the rock, which is known as Levant. This wind flows westwards from the Strait of Gibraltar. Therefore, the local people call these cloud formations ‘Levanters’. Levanturs are a type of ‘banner cloud’ that forms over isolated, sharp mountain peaks when winds are strong. They can also be seen on peaks like Mount Everest and Matterhorn.

The Rock of Gibraltar is located in the British Territory of Gibraltar, whose height is 1,398 feet.
