Muzaffarpur. In the month of Sawan, when you go to offer water at Vaidyanath Dham, Garib Nath Dham or any other Dham of Lord Shiva, you will definitely see a famous Prasad named cardamom seeds there. This year, the month of Sawan is starting from 22nd July. In this month, Kanwariyas and Shiva devotees offer chuda and cardamom seeds as Prasad to Lord Shiva. Therefore, it sells well in Sawan. From here, cardamom seeds are traded in the entire district. Its production has increased in half a dozen factories of the city. Every factory is doing business of five to six quintals daily. Currently, 36 quintals of cardamom seeds are being sold every day. Apart from various shops of the city, wholesale sellers of villages are shopping here.
Factory operator Nagendra Sao told Local 18 that nothing can be said but the business of cardamom seeds is around 15 to 20 lakhs in the whole month. There is no limit to this. He has been doing this business for the last 40 years. Keeping in mind the month of Saavan, the factories are producing day and night since a week before. The demand of the buyers from the villages has to be fulfilled by Friday. We are not able to supply as much as the demand is for the first Monday. After one Monday, the demand will decrease a bit. Apart from Muzaffarpur, cardamom seeds from here go to many districts including Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Shivhar, Vaishali.

The businessman further said that the sale of cardamom seeds is the highest in Sawan. The devotees coming from outside buy bangles and cardamom seeds after offering water, due to which its demand is high on every Sunday and Monday of Sawan. Apart from this, devotees who worship in the temple throughout the month also buy it. Talking to Local 18, the artisan said that to make it, first the syrup is prepared, after which it is kept in the machine and prepared. It takes about one to one and a half hours to make it.
