This state will not accept the decision of Modi government, no detention policy will continue in 5th-8th

Questions are being raised across the country regarding ‘no detention policy’ in education. On one hand, the Union Education Minister has decided to end the no detention policy keeping in mind the future of the students of classes 5-8. There are some states where this policy is still continuing. One of those states is Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Education Minister has still decided to issue no detention policy.

What is no detention policy?

Actually, earlier there were rules that if children of class 5-8 failed, they were promoted and sent to the next class. But as soon as the no detention policy ends, if the students of classes 5 and 8 fail, they will be given a chance to appear in the exam within 2 months and if those students fail again, they will not be promoted to the next class. Whereas Tamil Nadu government has not issued this decision in its state. And no detention policy still continues in the state.

What did the Education Minister of Tamil Nadu say about this policy?

Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Payoyamokshi has decided to continue the no detention policy in the state. No detention policy will continue in Tamil Nadu till class 8. Tamil Nadu government says that this will create a lot of difficulty for children from poor families in getting education.

Tamil Nadu minister said that Tamil Nadu does not follow the National Education Policy. This decision of the Central Government will be applicable only in those schools which come under the Central Government. This policy will not be applicable in Tamil Nadu.
