Bhilwara. The sweets of Mewar of Rajasthan state have a different style of sweetness. Murkas of Bhilwara have their own identity among the sweets of Mewar. The shape of Murka made from urad dal flour is somewhat similar to Jalebi and Imarti. Where Imarti and Jalebi are made from flour. Whereas Murka is made from urad dal flour. This sweet is made throughout the year only on the occasion of Diwali. This sweet is more popular within the radius of 40 kilometers around Bhilwara. Other sweets are available in the markets of Bhilwara for 12 months. But the special thing about Murke sweets is that some sweets last till Diwali. This sweet is also used in Lakshmi Puja and Murka is offered to Goddess Lakshmi.
Shopkeeper Kashish Patni, who makes Moorka sweets, said that this sweet is made from urad dal which is made only on Diwali. Our family has been making this sweet for the last 50 years and now our third generation is working on this sweet. Lakshmi puja is considered incomplete without this sweet. The biggest specialty of this sweet is that it is enjoyable when eaten hot.
Wait for this sweet throughout the year
Pooja Jain, a girl who came to buy Murka (Murka), said that I have been eating this sweet for the last 15 years and every year we wait for it to be made. This sweet cannot be prepared and stored, hence it is pure. The festival of Diwal seems incomplete without Murka (Murka) sweet. Just as tea seems incomplete without newspaper, similarly the day does not pass without this sweet.
Importance of this sweet in Lakshmi worship
Although many types of sweets are made in Bhilwara during the Diwali festival, the one that is most in demand is Murke sweets. This sweet is made only during Diwali, during which the lovers of this sweet are eager to enjoy it every day. Murka sweet prepared with urad dal and desi ghee is most delicious when eaten hot and in Bhilwara, Lakshmi puja is considered incomplete without it. In the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, this sweet is offered to Mata Rani.
Jalebi’s father is in taste
This sweet looks like Imarti and Jalebi but as far as taste and purity are concerned, it is many times better than this because Jalebi and Imarti are made from refined flour whereas this sweet is made from urad dal flour and It is made in pure desi ghee, there is no scope for adulteration in it and not only this, this sweet is bigger and wider than Jalebi.
