The Supreme Court had said that the Kolkata case reminded Aruna Shanbaug of the King Edward Memorial Hospital in Mumbai on 27 November 1973. The only difference between the two incidents is that the victim died in Kolkata. At the same time, Aruna Shanbaug, who became a victim of brutality in Mumbai, remained a living corpse for 42 years.
