A two kilometer long procession was taken out

Earlier, members of the ‘West Bengal Service Doctors Forum’ took out a rally from Sealdah station to Raj Bhavan as part of the ongoing protest against the alleged rape and murder of a female doctor in a government hospital. About 200 activists, including doctors and nursing staff, took part in the two kilometer long procession and demanded intervention of Governor CV Anand Bose in the matter.

Nurse Seema Das, who was part of the protest, said, “So many days have passed, but there has been no progress in the investigation of this heinous incident.” As the rally was stopped near the Raj Bhavan and prohibitory orders were imposed around the Raj Bhavan, a five-member delegation went inside to submit the memorandum. However, since the Governor was not present, his office accepted the memorandum. The forum’s spokesperson said, “It is unfortunate that the Governor did not come despite prior information about our arrival. The entire state and the country want that the culprits be identified and punished. As the constitutional head of the state, we want the Governor to use his privilege to expedite the investigation.”
