Police arrested three youths, residents of Hardoi, who stormed the bank by switching off the ATM in Shahjahanpur. All three were forming a gang and committing crimes to fulfill their expensive hobbies. They have also carried out incidents in Badaun, Bareilly, Pilibhit and Hardoi. Police are also searching for four other absconding associates.
Animesh Anchal, manager of Punjab and Sindh Bank located in Sadar Bazar, had filed a case of theft of Rs 99 thousand from the ATM. After this, SOG and Surveillance Cell watched the CCTV footage of those ATMs in which the incident was shown. Two suspicious youths were seen in the footage. Investigation revealed that while withdrawing money from the ATM, the youth used to switch off the switch at the back of the machine after the completion of the transaction process, and then lodge a complaint online that the money was not withdrawn due to power cut.
Three accused arrested, four absconding
The money was returned to his account within 24 hours of the complaint. On Saturday night, on the information of an informer, the police team surrounded the gang members who were planning to commit such an incident near the railway station, in which four youths managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness, while three were arrested.
