The stuffed dish available at Munnan Chaat Bhandar in the City Park area here is very famous. People come from far and wide to eat this tikki.

Sunil Kumar Gupta, owner of Munnan Chaat Bhandar, says that the work of making chaat was done by his father Munnan Gupta about 50 years ago. Along with his father, Sunil also started learning the art of making chaat since childhood. Sunil has also been making chaat for about 35 years.

This is how to prepare spice tikkis
The spicy tikkis available at Munnan Chaat Bhandar are in great demand. Sunil tells that to prepare this tikki, he first prepares bharta by boiling potatoes. After that, a paste is prepared by mixing green peas, ginger, celery, cumin, chilli, coriander and asafoetida. Then fill the potato bharta inside and give it the shape of a round tikki. Then bake that tikki on a pan on low flame. After baking for some time, this tikki is ready. When the customer asks for the tikki, chutney, curd and onion are added to it and given to the customer.

Sunil Kumar told that he prepares the chutney used with tikki by mixing mango powder, dry ginger, cumin, fennel and dry fruits. No chemicals of any kind are used in chutney. Due to which its taste is very good which is also liked by the customers.

Munnan’s shop gets decorated in the evening
Munnan Chaat Bhandar remains open from 4:30 pm to 9 pm. During this time, about 100 to 150 customers come to him every day to taste his tikkis. The price of one Munnan tikki is Rs 20. People like the tikkis from their place so much. That people get it packed and take it home. For which no separate charge is taken.
