According to a report by India Today, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) on Thursday (August 29) announced that it has introduced Aadhaar verification for token-less devotees wishing to receive laddu prasadam (sacred food). Meanwhile, TTD Additional Executive Officer Venkaiah Chowdhary said that some middlemen are selling laddus in the black market. The decision is aimed at preventing such incidents and increasing transparency in the process of distributing laddus.
Brokers are selling laddus at high prices- Venkaiah Chowdhary
At the same time, TTD Additional Executive Officer Venkaiah Chowdhary clarified that this decision has been taken in the better interest of the devotees. Speaking to the media outside Annamaya Bhavan, Chowdhary said, “We have seen that some middlemen are misusing the system by selling laddus in the black market. To stop this, devotees without darshan tokens can now register their Aadhaar card at the designated laddu counters to get two laddus.
Devotees with Darshan tickets do not need Aadhaar registration
Along with this, it has also been clarified that devotees with Darshan tickets do not need Aadhaar registration. He said that for the devotees who do not have Darshan tickets, only two laddus have been arranged and they can get two more laddu prasad after 24 hours.

TTD Additional Executive Officer Venkaiah Chowdhary further said that “Special counters have been set up in the laddu complex, especially these counters will be available at 48 and 62. He emphasized that devotees with tokens or tickets for darshan can continue to buy additional laddus in addition to getting a free laddu as before. Along with this, he said that devotees who do not have darshan tickets and tokens will be sold two laddus with Aadhar card registration.
