Shatrughan Sinha defends Mamta Banerjee

West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee had said that if Bengal burns, Assam, Northeast, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Delhi will also burn. Regarding this, TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha said, “As far as I know my ‘didi’ (Mamata Banerjee), what she said was a very mature thing. What she meant was that if they are trying to provoke people on the Kolkata incident, which is being heard in the Supreme Court and the CBI is investigating it, then its effect should not be limited to West Bengal only.”

Sukant Majumdar had called it a provocative speech

Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar said on Friday (30 August 2024) that CM Mamata’s fiery remarks are likely to spread unrest in many states. He had said that it seems that Mamata Banerjee is speaking in the voice of some divisive forces active in the neighboring country (Bangladesh).

Doctors are on strike in Bengal over the Kolkata rape and murder case. Meanwhile, CM Mamata Banerjee said that some people have accused her of threatening the protesting doctors, which is completely wrong. She posted on Instagram and said, “I want to clearly state that I have not said a single word against (medical etc.) students or their protest. I fully support their movement. Their movement is justified. I have never threatened them. This allegation of threatening is completely false.”
