desi potatoes go abroad
According to the latest figures of agricultural exports, during the year 2013-14, India had exported potatoes worth only 77 crores. Gradually, foreigners started liking indigenous potatoes and in April-August 2022, the same export increased 4.6 times.
During this, India sent potatoes worth Rs 360 crore abroad. Due to this, potato producing farmers also got good income. This is the reason why farmers have started focusing more on the production of wheat and potatoes in Rabi season.
What are and technology of production
In the era of modernity, our agriculture has also become advanced. The challenges in farming have not reduced, but with these challenges, the farmers have come to get better production. Our agricultural scientists are also giving full cooperation in this work.
Many farmers of Uttar Pradesh cultivate potatoes by making high beds, due to which the possibility of damage or pest attack in the potato crop is reduced. Aeroponic technique of potato production has been developed, which gives potato production without soil.
The possibility of soil borne diseases can be reduced by this farming, because in this model potato plants are transplanted at some height from the ground. In this way the roots of potato keep hanging in the air.
Water and nutrients are delivered for better development of roots, which play an important role in increasing the yield. Apart from this, scientific management is also helping farmers to get better production of potatoes.
