National Voters’ Day is celebrated every year on 25 January. On the 14th National Voters’ Day in Aligarh district, voters will be made aware through various programs from the district headquarters to all the tehsil headquarters. During this period, elderly and young voters will also be honoured.
The Election Commission of India was established on 25 January 1950. In the year 2011 it was declared National Voter’s Day. Its objective is to increase voter registration, especially to encourage participation of young voters. District Election Officer Inder Vikram Singh said that the special brief revision program of assembly electoral rolls was started from October 27, 2023, considering January 1, 2024 as the base. Whose final publication has been done. Earlier the total voters were 27,19,598, which has now increased to 27,59,211.
The proportion of voters has increased from 58.78 percent to 59.64 percent of the population. There has been an increase of 0.86 percent. There has been an increase of 24791 in new voters in the age group of 18-19. There are 876 women voters per 1000 voters. 50159 such voters have been identified who were registered at more than one place, their names were erased. The deficiencies have been rectified by filling Form 8 of 25,788 voters. 45,749 voter photo identity cards have been distributed.
Democracy has given everyone the right to vote. Everyone should participate enthusiastically in this. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the public to choose their leaders properly.
