TRAI New Tariff Order 2.0: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has revised the New Tariff Order (NTO) 2.0 on Tuesday. Now cable and DTH customers can get relief. Under the new rule, channels priced below Rs 19 will be able to join the bouquet. Due to this, TRAI Secretary, V. Raghunandan (TRAI Secretary, V. Raghunandan) has issued a notification regarding the new rules.
45% off
According to the notification regarding the new rules, all broadcasters, while fixing the price of their bouquet of pay channels, can offer a maximum discount of 45 percent on the sum of the MRPs of all the pay channels in that bouquet. Right now only 33 per cent discount can be given. TRAI says that the MRP of a pay channel will be based on the discount given by the broadcaster as well as the joint membership of that channel in the bouquet.
Rules will be applicable from 1 February 2023
These new rules of TRAI will be applicable from 1 February 2023. TRAI says that all distributors of television channels will ensure that by February 1, 2023, customers are provided services according to the bouquet or channels selected by them.
It has also been said by TRAI that all broadcasters will report channel name, language, MRP per month of channels and structure of bouquet of channels and any change in MRP by 16 December 2022.
