The government telecom department has taken strict steps to stop fake calls. Recently the department blocked 1.77 crore mobile numbers. These were being used to make fake calls. For the security of more than 122 crore telecom users of the country, the Telecom Department has taken this step in collaboration with TRAI. Together they have intensified action against fake calls. TRAI has made a new policy only last month, through which operators can now stop marketing and fake calls themselves. With this there will be no need for whitelisting.
According to the Telecom Department, about 1.35 crore fake calls are being stopped every day. Apart from this, the department has blocked 1.77 crore mobile numbers making fake calls. The department has taken action on people’s complaints and stopped about 7 crore calls within five days. The department has said that this is the beginning of their campaign.
Fake calls will be controlled

11 lakh accounts were frozen
Recently, the Ministry of Communications said in a statement that about 11 lakh accounts have been frozen by banks and payment wallets. The government says that more SIM cards will be blocked in the coming days. Four telecom service operators (TSPs) working with the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) had blocked 45 lakh fake international calls from reaching the telecom network.
