Trains have now started running at maximum speed on 15 new sections including Gorakhpur-Cantt-Valmikinagar in North Eastern Railway. The speed of trains on these sections has been increased from 80 to 90 kmph to 110 kmph. This will reduce the travel time. The timings of trains will also change in the new timetable.
In North Eastern Railway, the capacity of tracks was increased in 1030 km length from April to December last year. For this, heavy weight tracks and sleepers were laid. Trains are now being run at maximum speed after conducting speed trials on these sections.
Speed doubled on loop lines as well
The speed on loop lines has also been increased from 15 kmph to 30 kmph in nine sections of North Eastern Railway. In the year 2022-23, the speed has been increased on a total of 617 km of track. The speed of trains has been increased on loop line on Varanasi-Prayagraj, Chhapra Kachari-Thave, Mau-Shahganj, Audihar-Ghazipur City, Chhapra-Audihar, Lucknow-Malhaur, Ramnathpur Muftiganj Overbridge and Gonda-Bahraich railway sections.
