Markam, associate professor of horticulture, Agricultural Science Center, Kanker, said that in Kanker district, custard apple is found naturally in large quantities in the fields and forests of farmers. Custard apple is available in fresh form in abundance in the season i.e. between 15th October to 15th November. At that time, farmers earn very little income from selling custard apple in fresh condition. By processing Custard Apple i.e. pulping and removing the core, it can be stored in deep freezer and kept safe for 8 to 12 months. Sitaphal ice cream is being made by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kanker. Its taste is like eating fresh custard apple.

Sitaphal Ice Cream Recipe
To make Sitaphal ice cream, 2 kg Sitaphal pulp, 1 kg cream, 400 grams condensed milk and 50 grams milk powder are required. After churning all this, it is kept in deep freezer for at least 3-6 hours. Then it is packed in different containers of 60 grams and 100 grams. It should be stored in deep freezer. The taste of Sitaphal ice cream is excellent. Direct income can also be earned by selling it. Farmers and youth can also adopt this method as a business and start a startup.

PS Markam further said that there is a lot of demand for Sitaphal ice cream in the market. Agricultural Science Center and Research Center Singar Bhat Kanker is not able to fulfill the needs. Although Sitaphal ice cream is easily available in the market, it pales in comparison to the ice cream prepared by them. Sitaphal ice cream is brought in the exhibition which easily earns an income of up to Rs 15 thousand.
