Rules related to Tulsi plant
- Never offer water to the Tulsi plant on Sundays, nor pluck its leaves. It is considered inauspicious to do so.
- If there is a Tulsi plant in the house, then never keep it in the dark. In the evening, do light a lamp near the Tulsi plant. Keep it in an open place.
- Never throw away the dry leaves of Tulsi, instead wash the leaves and put them in the soil of the Tulsi plant.
- Do not keep dry Tulsi plant in the house as it brings bad luck to the family members.
- Never keep Tulsi plant in the south-east direction because this direction is considered the direction of fire.
- Tulsi plant should not be planted in the ground, but should always be planted in a pot.
- Take special care that there should be no dirt around the Tulsi plant. Tulsi plant should not be kept with any thorny plant.
- Basil leaves should never be plucked with the help of knife, scissors or nails. Use fingers for this.
- Never pluck basil leaves unnecessarily. Doing so is considered a sin.
- Neither touch nor break Tulsi leaves without taking bath. Such leaves are not accepted by God in worship.
- Pluck Tulsi leaves only for religious or health reasons. Basil leaves should not be plucked even after sunset.
