The Allahabad High Court has acquitted two cousin brothers who were awarded death sentence in the brutal murder case of killing their mother, sister and wife by cutting them with an ax 17 years ago and then gunning them down. This decision has been given by the division bench of Justice Siddharth Verma and Justice Anish Kumar Gupta. Cousin Mohd. against the death sentence and Rs 60,000 fine awarded by the court of the Special Judge of Farrukhabad EC Act. Kaleem and Mohd. Shakeel had approached the High Court.
The matter is of Kotwali police station area of Farrukhabad. Shakeel, resident of Mohalla Khatakpura, had lodged a report in the city police station on 26 July 2007. In which it was said that his relative Mohammad Kalim lives in Mohalla Chhawni Phatak. His wife Yasmin, mother Noor Jahan and sister Nasreen live with him. All three were first cut with a sharp weapon while sleeping at night and then shot. Brother Kalim was also seriously injured in this incident.
The investigating then in-charge Inspector Ashok Kumar Shukla booked Mohd. on charges of murder. Kalim, Mohd. Charge sheet was filed in the court against Shakeel and Lallan alias Lalla, resident of neighboring Mohalla Chobdaran. After a trial lasting almost 15 years, Special Judge of EC Act Court Rakesh Kumar Singh found both the brothers guilty on October 13, 2022 and sentenced them to death and a fine of Rs 60 thousand, while the third accused Lallan alias Lalla was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
