On April 17 evening, in village Morthal of Harduaganj police station area in Aligarh, two children who had gone to take bath in a pond near the village drowned. On receiving information, the family members ran to the pond and pulled out the children, but by then they had died.
Among the children who died were Arbaaz (8) son of Zaheer Khan, resident of Morthal, Momin (7) son of Shakeel, resident of Dhadhau police station Sahpau, Hathras. There was an uncle-nephew relationship between the two. On April 17, at around 4 pm, both of them, while playing with children of their age in the locality, reached Aam Bali pond, some distance away from the populated area near the village. Due to the heat, Arbaaz and Momin entered the pond to take bath and ended up drowning in the deep water.
When Asad’s son Afroz, who was present at the spot, saw both of them drowning in water, he reached home crying and informed the same to the family members of the children. On receiving the information, the family members along with the villagers ran towards the spot and entered the pond and started searching for the children. After much effort, both the children were taken out of the pond and taken to a private doctor in the town, where he declared both of them dead. The crying family members took both the bodies home.
Panchnama action is in progress by the police, family members are being explained for further action.-Mo Akmal Khan CO Atrauli
