Two Cups Coffee And Green Tea What Is Good For Your Heart If You Have High Blood Pressure


A study suggests that if your blood pressure is 160/100 mm Hg or higher and you drink more than two cups of coffee daily, then you may have double the risk of death from heart attack. It has also been said in the study that people who drink green tea or just a cup of coffee, did not see such an effect. According to a study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, the risk of death from heart attack is higher in coffee drinkers who have high blood pressure. But its effect is not that much on those people, whose blood pressure is not in critical condition.

Researchers found during the study that people who drank only one cup of coffee a day and consumed green tea daily did not see a higher risk of heart disease, while they were patients of blood pressure. Caffeine is found in both green tea and coffee, which has both advantages and disadvantages. The initial 19-year study included more than 6,570 men and 12,000 women aged 40 to 79 who were selected from the Japan Collaborative Cohort Study for Cancer Risk Assessment.

High BP patients should avoid drinking coffee

Dr. Neeraj Bhalla of Delhi’s BLK Max Super Specialty Hospital said that research is being done for years for the beneficial and harmful effects of caffeine on heart health. This study is in line with them. About 80 to 90 mg of caffeine can be obtained from an average cup of coffee. This increases the BP, heart rate and constricts the blood vessels. That’s why high BP patients should avoid drinking too much coffee. Because drinking too much coffee can make you a victim of excessive stress. At the same time, excessive consumption of caffeine can also harm the health of the heart.

The amount of caffeine in green tea is less

According to the study, heart patients and people with high blood pressure should especially avoid drinking too much coffee. Excessive consumption of caffeine increases heart rate, blood pressure and stress levels. Whereas the amount of caffeine in green tea is very less, which does not affect the heart rate or metabolism to a dangerous extent.
