Two friends drowned in the Yamuna while bathing at Keshi Ghat in Vrindavan, Mathura, a pilgrimage town, on Tuesday. With the help of divers, the police took out the body of one of the youths from the Yamuna an hour after the drowning. The deceased’s father took the body to Delhi, while his companion was not found till late evening. His search is on by the police and divers. The deceased was a resident of Malviya Nagar, Delhi, while his companion is a resident of Greater Noida.

A group of eight youths from Delhi and Greater Noida had come to visit Vrindavan on Monday night. After doing the parikrama of Vrindavan on Tuesday morning around four o’clock, everyone reached Keshi Ghat to take a bath in the Yamuna. While bathing, 23-year-old Hrithik Thapa, a resident of Malviya Nagar, Delhi and 26-year-old Sachin, a resident of Greater Noida, drowned in the deep waters. Divers started searching for the two youths in the Yamuna. The police also reached the spot. Hrithik’s body was taken out of the Yamuna an hour after he drowned. The search for his friend Sachin is on.
Rohit, brother of deceased Hrithik, said that eight youths including his brother and Sachin had come to Vrindavan on motorcycles to have darshan. On Tuesday morning, after doing the parikrama of Vrindavan, they started bathing in Yamuna. Suddenly his brother Hrithik Thapa and Sachin slipped and drowned in the deep waters of Yamuna. At first, he thought that they were joking, but when they did not come out of Yamuna, he started shouting. Then their search began.
Kotwali in-charge Anand Kumar Shahi said that a group of eight friends had come to Vrindavan from Delhi on motorcycles. While bathing in the Yamuna, two youths drowned in the Yamuna. Out of these, the body of Hrithik, a resident of Delhi, has been found. His father Kishan Thapa has taken his body to Delhi. The search for his friend Sachin is on.
