UGC: UGC declared these renowned institutions as defaulters, this is the whole matter


University Grants Commission: The institutes which did not pay heed to the instructions given by UGC in the past, have now been declared defaulters by the commission. The institutes which have been declared defaulters by the University Grants Commission (UGC), include Delhi’s IIMC and Morarji Desai Institute. UGC has declared 63 institutes including IIMC and Morarji Desai Institute as defaulters. This action has been taken against all these institutes for not appointing a Lokpal.

The University Grants Commission had issued a notice to the institutions to appoint Lokpal. Under the rules, the institutions were given six months to appoint the Lokpal. After this deadline, necessary action has been taken by the University Grants Commission. Many universities and institutions including Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, NITTTR, Guru Teg Bahadur University, Uttarakhand Ayurveda University, Maharaja Suheldev University and King George Dental University were included in this list.

In a public notice issued by University Grants Commission Secretary Professor Manish Joshi, the third list of defaulter universities has been released. This list contains the names of state universities, deemed universities and private universities. In this list, the name of Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences is at the top of the list of state universities.
