Special monitoring is being done on air passengers. Passengers coming from abroad are being tested at the airport itself. Till date, more than 15 lakh air passengers have been tested for Covid-19. This information has been given by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya told, “Till date more than 15 lakh air passengers were tested for corona, out of which more than 200 passengers were found to be Kovid positive.” Omicron’s BF.7 variant has been confirmed in most of the passengers. The Health Minister described the vaccine as effective on this variant.
‘Vaccine is effective on this variant’
The Union Health Minister said, “Their samples sent for genome sequencing showed that the BF.7 variant was found in many passengers. Our vaccines are effective against this variant.” Earlier, on Monday (January 9), the Health Ministry had informed about all the variants of Omicron being found in the country. These samples were taken from international passengers. The statement said that XBB (11), BQ1.1 (12) and BF7.4.1 (1) variants were found in positive samples of 50 international passengers. Genome sequencing of the sample was done.
All variants of Omicron found
The Union Health Ministry said, “‘Sentinel sequencing’ of 324 Covid positive samples taken between 29 December 2022 and 7 January 2023 revealed that all of them omicron Variant existence found. These variants include BA.2 and its sub-variant 2.75, XBB (37), BQ1 and BQ1.1 (5) and other variants.” The Health Ministry said in a statement, “The areas where these variants have been detected , there is no reported increase in mortality or infection cases.”
Corona situation in the country
Meanwhile, there has been an increase in the cases of corona in the country. The Health Ministry said that 171 cases of corona have been registered in the last 24 hours. Apart from this, there has also been an increase in active cases. Active cases have now increased to 2,342. According to the report of the ministry, 23 active patients have increased during 24 hours. The ministry said that a total of 4 crore 46 lakh 80 thousand 386 people have been infected with Corona so far.
More than 220 crores got vaccine
More than 220.14 crore doses of corona vaccine have been administered in the country. The first dose has been given to more than 102.72 crore people. At the same time, more than 95 crore second doses have been given. Apart from this, more than 22.29 crore people have also got pre-vacation dose.
