Nirmala Sitharaman: After the commencement of medical education in Hindi, there has now been a demand to teach it in Tamil as well and this demand has been placed by Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman herself. In Chennai, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that there is definitely a need to strengthen medical education. Now we need to teach medical education in a better way and I think in Tamil Nadu if medical education is done in Tamil then it can be achieved to a great extent and medical education can be made easier.
Addressing the 35th Annual Convocation of Dr. MGR Medical University in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, Sitharaman said that the country today corona virus is in a ‘better position’ to face the challenges that are not being seen in countries like China, Japan and Korea. Our country is ready to face Corona because it has the means of better medical education.

The Union minister said, “I am saying this here in Tamil Nadu in front of the health minister (Ma Subramanian) that there is definitely a need to strengthen medical education and I think that can be achieved to a large extent by better medical education.” For this, medical education can be given in Tamil (language) in Tamil Nadu.” He said that “people love their language and if education is available in Tamil language, it is better for us, there are possibilities to further research work here.”
What else did the Finance Minister say?
The Finance Minister also clarified that he is not against the English language. She said, “I have studied here (in Tamil Nadu) and I can say that it would be better for all of us to study in Tamil as there is an opportunity for progress.” There will be opposition because I am saying this in Tamil Nadu and in the presence of the Medical Education Minister.”
