Bhopal. There are many temples of gods and goddesses across the country, where people offer flowers, garlands and prasad as well as different kinds of prasad according to the local beliefs. It is mandatory to take off slippers and shoes before entering the temples. But there is a unique temple in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, where devotees offer slippers and shoes to the goddess as prasad. It may sound strange to you, but it is true.
The Devi Maa temple is situated on a hill in Kolar, Banjari area of Bhopal and Goddess Siddhidatri is enthroned here. This temple is also known as Jijabai Mata Mandir. The local people know it as Pahadi Wali Mata Mandir. The biggest specialty of this temple is that the goddess is worshipped here as a daughter and the devotees who come here offer new slippers and sandals to the goddess as a gift. The devotees of Devi Maa also send new shoes and sandals from abroad.
This is the story of the temple
In the Banjari area of Kolar, one can reach the Maa Siddhidatri temple by climbing 125 steps on the hill. It has been more than 25 years since this temple was established and this tradition has been going on since then. The temple priest Om Prakash told Local 18 that before establishing the temple, he had performed the marriage of Lord Shiva and Parvati. In this marriage, he himself had given away Parvati in marriage with his own hands, hence Om Prakash worships the mother by considering her as his daughter.
That is why slippers are offered
Apart from Siddhidatri Pahad Wala Mandir, people also know this temple by the name of Pahad Wala Mandir and Jiji Bai Mandir. The mother is established here in the form of a child. So that there is no shortage in the service of the daughter, all the things used by children and daughters are offered to the mother. Like daughters, all their tantrums and hobbies are also fulfilled. They are offered slippers, glasses, watches, umbrellas etc.
More than 15 lakh clothes were replaced
Here Maa Durga is taken care of like a daughter. If Om Prakash feels that the Goddess is not happy then Mata Rani’s clothes are changed two-three times a day. According to him, in 25 years, more than 15 lakh clothes, slippers and makeup of Mata Rani have been changed. Also, these items are brought from abroad by the devotees. Jijabai Mata is dressed in new clothes every day in the temple. There is a huge crowd of devotees here during Navratri.
