Gauhar/Delhi: There are many places in our country which have their own beliefs. One of these places is near Pragati Maidan in Delhi. Which people know as Matka Peer Dargah. Syed Shahid Abbasi, whose entire family has been serving this Dargah for many generations. He told that this Dargah actually belongs to Sheikh Hazrat Abu Bakr Tusi Haidari Qalandari. But among his followers he is known as Matka Peer.

Shahid told that this Dargah is 784 years old. He told that whenever someone makes a wish at this Dargah and his wish is fulfilled, then after that he comes here and offers earthen pots. Therefore, if you ever go here, you will find many people selling earthen pots and around the Dargah you will also see earthen pots, either hanging from trees or piled up around the Dargah. What is the relation of pots with Dargah?
Shahid, who has been serving the Dargah for many years, told that Matka Pir who is known as Sheikh Hazrat Abu Bakr Tusi Haidari Qalandari. Many years ago, he had given water to a sick person from his earthen pot, after which his illness was cured. After that, the then king was happy and gifted him earthen pots and from then onwards he came to be known as Matka Peer. When this Dargah was built, whoever had his wish fulfilled here started coming here and offering earthen pots.

Shamim, who has been selling pots sitting under this Dargah for almost 15 years. He said that 10 to 15 of his pots are sold here every day, and people return here after offering them. He said that people put milk, sugar, gram and jaggery in the pot and place sheets over it and offer it at the Dargah. A person named Mohammad Hanif told that he has been cleaning here for many years. Whenever he has made any wish here, all his wishes have been fulfilled and then he also offers earthen pots here. A person named Afroz said that he is a resident of Kolkata and he has been coming here continuously for about 15 years.

how to reach here
To reach here, you will have to get down from Blue Line Metro at Supreme Court, Pragati Maidan metro station. As soon as you come out of Gate No. 1, you will reach this Dargah in 10 to 15 minutes by any rickshaw. This Dargah remains open seven days of the week. You can come here anytime from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.
