Saran : There is a village named Samhota in Jalalpur block of Saran district. Payhari Baba’s Mathia is very famous here, which is also called Payhari Dham. First of all, a Shiv temple was established here by Payhari Baba, in which Payhari used to worship. After his Samadhi, the name of that temple was changed to Payhari Dham. The history of this Mathia is said to be more than a thousand years old. Where Payhari Baba took Samadhi alive. Not only this, there are many interesting stories related to this place.
This Mathia is in Samhota village, it is said that there was no Pandit in this village. Due to this, the people of Hindu families were facing a lot of problems in doing Puja and other auspicious works. After this, the people of the village decided to settle a Pandit family, and a Pandit family was brought from Uttar Pradesh and settled in the village. That Pandit had a son. After a few days, the Pandit died due to some reason.
After that, his only son lived in this village. He used to get pujas done in people’s homes, but after some time, Pandit’s son also died. After that, there was mourning among the people of the village, everyone started crying, at last people were taking the funeral pyre after decorating it. Then Payhari Baba asked what happened. The people of the village and the family started crying after telling, after that Payhari Baba said that you all go home, everyone went home, after that Pandit ji’s dead child returned home alive.
When the people around got this information, a large number of them reached Payhari Baba, after that the worship started, people started chanting Baba’s praises, since that time there is a tradition that after death people keep the dead body near Payhari Baba Mathia. And go to the temple and apply the ‘Gor’. This tradition is followed even today.
Not only this, people also say that if something wrong happens to someone, that person comes to Baba’s Mathia and takes an oath, then the result is received within a month. According to the villagers, it is also said that Payhari Baba’s havan kund is one and a half kilometer away from this temple. Where a day is kept for performing Ashta Jam. Then it starts raining in the area. Not only this, if havan is performed in the havan kund, then it is said that smoke comes out in the temple one and a half kilometer away.
The chief priest of this Mathiya, Shri Ram Chaubey, told that Payhari Baba had taken Samadhi here alive. He told that Payhari Baba had first established a Shiv temple here. Where he used to do Puja. He told that now after worshipping Shivaji first, the devotees worship Payhari Baba.
Shankar Singh told that there was no Pandit family in the village. A Pandit family was settled to perform Puja Paath, who had a son. After the death of Pandit ji, his son also died a few days later. After this everyone started crying, and they took the dead body to Payhari Baba, after that Baba told everyone to go home, as soon as everyone went home, the child stood up, after that when he went home, the villagers came to know about this and started hailing Baba. He told that since that time there is a tradition that even today after death people keep the dead body near this Mathiya and go to the temple and apply Gore.
Abhishek Kumar told that even today if someone commits a crime and comes to this temple and takes an oath, then the guilty person gets his punishment within a month.
