Action will be taken against the Block Education Officers (BEO) who are delaying the salary hike of teachers transferred from one district to another in council schools of Uttar Pradesh. Notice has been issued to 82 such BEOs and a reply has been sought within a week. They have kept the matter of salary hike of 2,700 teachers pending.
Dhruv Kumar Tripathi, leader of the teachers’ group in the Legislative Council, brought this matter to the notice of the Chief Minister and demanded the release of the teachers’ salary hike. The Chief Minister’s Secretariat had sought information from the department in this matter. In this sequence, the department has questioned the concerned BEO. It was found that most of the BEOs have said that the main reason for the pending files related to salary hike is the non-availability of records. While the department expressed disagreement and said that everyone’s service book is online. In such a situation, the government has sought a reply from all these BEOs. If not satisfied with the answer, action can be taken against them.
Let us tell you that last year, after a long process, 2,700 teachers of council schools were transferred from one district to another in June. Such teachers against whom no action is pending should have been given the benefit of salary increase. But they did not get the benefit. Now the department has also become active in the matter.
