The campaign for the second and last phase of the municipal elections ended at 6 pm on Tuesday. In this phase, polling will be held on May 11 for 6,929 posts in 38 districts. There are 39,146 candidates in the fray for this. State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar said that in the second phase, 83 candidates for the post of mayor and 581 for the post of councilor are in the fray for 3,840 candidates. Similarly, 969 candidates are in the fray for the post of chairman of 95 municipal councils, 13,315 candidates for the post of 2,520 members of municipal councils. There are 2,942 candidates in the fray for the posts of 267 chairpersons of Nagar Panchayats and 17,997 candidates for the posts of 3,459 members of Nagar Panchayats.

In Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Aligarh, Kanpur Nagar and Ayodhya Municipal Corporation, 6,111 polling stations and 1,798 polling stations have been set up for the election of Mayor and Councillors. Of these, 39,69,294 are male and 34,57,512 are female voters. Similarly, 8,198 polling stations and 2,537 polling stations have been set up in 95 municipal councils. Of these, 38,86,525 are male and 34,44,385 are female voters. For 268 Nagar Panchayats and 3,495 Nagar Panchayat wards, 5,309 polling stations and 2,043 polling stations have been set up. Of these, 23,61,173 are male and 21,13,115 are female voters. 19,618 polling stations and 6,378 polling stations have been set up in 370 civic bodies and 6,636 wards. Of these, 1,02,16,992 are male and 90,15,012 are female voters.

Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkarnagar, Barabanki, Amethi, Meerut, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad, Baghpat, Bulandshahr, Bareilly, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Aligarh, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Kanpur Nagar, Farrukhabad, Etawah, Kannauj, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda, Basti, Santakbirnagar, Siddharthnagar, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and Bhadohi.

Get the vote of every voter in line: Election Commissioner

State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar took a virtual meeting regarding the preparations for the polls. Said that no voter should be inconvenienced while voting. Every voter who is in line within the stipulated time must be given an opportunity to cast his vote.
