Allahabad High Court said that cheating in government job examinations weakens the principles of merit and equal opportunity. Those who cheat and indulge in malpractices in examinations should be dealt with strictly. Making this harsh remark, the High Court rejected the bail of Amarjeet Chaurasia, who was in jail on charges of making someone else sit in his place in the UP constable recruitment examination in Varanasi.
This order has been given by the court of Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal. The examination for UP constable recruitment was held on 17 February 2024 at SB Shiksha Niketan Inter College, Karaundi Sundarpur, Varanasi. Chandan Kumar Yadav was appearing in the examination in place of applicant Amarjeet Chaurasia.
During biometric verification, Chandan was caught by the school authorities and handed over to the police. In the same case, a case was also registered against Amarjeet under various sections including fraud. The applicant has been in jail since March 20, 2024. He appealed to the High Court for bail.
The lawyer argued that the applicant has been falsely implicated in this case. He has nothing to do with Chandan Kumar. Therefore, if he is granted bail, he will not misuse it. At the same time, the Additional Government Advocate argued that Chandan clearly stated in his statement that he was appearing in the examination in place of the applicant.
