DGP Prashant Kumar has given strict instructions to his subordinates regarding cases of deaths in police custody. The DGP has said that before bringing any person or accused to the police station for questioning, it should be confirmed whether he is suffering from any serious disease or not. Let us tell you that recently there was a lot of uproar after the death of a person in police custody in Jalaun. In this case, the National Human Rights Commission has also issued a notice to the Chief Secretary and the DGP.

In the instructions issued by the DGP on Thursday, it was said that a person suffering from a serious disease should not be brought to the police station. If for some reason he falls ill while being brought to the police station, he should be immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. No person should be brought to the police station or police post without the knowledge of the station in-charge or post in-charge. If he has been brought for any reason, it should be immediately recorded in the documents.

Any person should be interrogated at the police station in a psychological manner and with full patience. During this, responsible officers should be present. Its details should also be recorded in the register. Court orders should be followed while arresting the accused and sending him to the lock-up. If someone dies in police custody, the Human Rights Commission should be informed immediately.
