This time in the Lok Sabha elections, BSP’s move on five seats of Bareilly division and two seats of Kheri district spoiled the calculations of many candidates. Especially, it became the reason for the defeat of the BJP, which it is accused of indirectly helping to win.
In some places, the opposition benefited from the BSP candidate being branded as a dummy, while in other places, fearing a change in the constitution, its cadre votes went to the opposition. In such a situation, the BJP had to bear the brunt on all sides. The same situation was seen on all seven seats, but in Aonla, Badaun and Kheri and Dhaurahra seats, the game turned around because of this.
Bareilly: There is profit as well as loss due to not being a candidate
BSP had fielded Chhotelal Gangwar from Bareilly. Since BJP had given ticket to Chhatrapal Gangwar from here, there was a fear of Kurmi votes getting divided. Meanwhile Chhotelal’s nomination was rejected. This saved BJP’s Gangwar vote from getting divided, but BSP suffered a loss as its cadre vote went to the opposition. Fearing a change in the constitution, a large section of the Dalit community joined the SP.
The situation was such that the BJP, which had won the 2019 elections by a margin of 1,67,282 votes, this time fell behind by 1,32,478 votes and Chhatrapal won by just 34,804 votes. The BJP had to make every possible effort to defeat SP candidate Praveen Singh Aron. The BJP capitalised on polarisation and central and state schemes. It also won by wooing the Kurmi vote bank.
