Expansion
In Uttar Pradesh, cities will be developed on the basis of five systems including data management. Other mechanisms also include urban flood stormwater management, capacity building, climate friendly urban planning and implementation of electronic vehicle policy. The state government has signed an agreement with World Resources Institute (WRI) India for the rejuvenation of cities.
Urban Development Department along with WRI India has started the exercise to promote development in urban areas and improve the living standards of the people. At the same time, under the agreement, the government will measure the pace of development in the state and will decide the further direction and pace based on the suggestions of WRI India. For this, workshops and training programs will also be conducted for senior government officers of the state and sections that play an important role in urban development.
These systems will have the following functions
Data Management System: The progress of major projects like road development and expansion under CM Grids and other ongoing schemes in the state will be monitored.
Urban Flood Stormwater Management System: A strategy will be prepared for stormwater management at the state level.
Capacity Building System: The work of training and capacity building of the urban administration will also be done for climate and environment friendly development.
Climate Friendly Urban Planning: Local authorities in cities will be helped in doing climate friendly urban planning.
Implementation of Electric Vehicle Policy: The WRI India team will provide suggestions to create an enabling environment for e-mobility within the state. Will also help in the implementation of EV Policy 2022.
