This summer has proved to be fatal. With the rise in temperature, the increasing number of bodies in the postmortem house is a witness to this. Statistics show that in April, 396 bodies came for postmortem, out of which the number of unidentified bodies was only 52.

When the temperature rose in May, the number of bodies in the postmortem increased to 608 and when the heat reached its peak in June, 769 bodies reached the postmortem house in just 21 days. It should also be mentioned here that while a total of 106 unidentified bodies were found in May, 203 unidentified bodies have been brought to the postmortem house so far in June.

The special thing is that while filling the Panchnama of these dead bodies, the police also considered heat as the cause of their death, but in the records of the administration, not a single death has been recorded as being due to heat. The reason is the postmortem report, in which the cause of their death has been stated as heart attack and multi-organ failure.

The heat started showing its fierce form in the last six days of May and then after 35 years it happened that the temperature remained above 45 degrees for six consecutive days. In these six days of Nautapa, 72 unidentified bodies were brought for post-mortem, whereas in the previous 24 days of May only 34 unidentified bodies were brought.
