UP Energy Minister AK Sharma said that electricity rates have not increased in the state for four years. The government will try to ensure that consumers continue to get electricity without any increase in the future. Consumers should also cooperate in this. Use electricity sparingly in this scorching heat. He was talking to journalists at his residence on Sunday.

The Energy Minister said that the proposal of the electricity distribution corporations has been filed in the Regulatory Commission. The Commission will take a decision on this under the prescribed procedure. Electricity rates have not been increased in the state for the last four years. As far as urbanization of feeders is concerned, this is a prescribed procedure. Feeders are upgraded from time to time. The Energy Minister said that there is an order for 24-hour power supply in the state. Electricity is interrupted only due to local faults, storms or other reasons.

The maximum demand of 30618 MW has also been met in the state. In the coming days, it can exceed 31 thousand MW. In two years, 17 thousand crores have been spent in RDSS scheme and five thousand crores in business plan, maintenance work worth one thousand crore rupees has been done for the development of power system in urban bodies. Many works are going on. After their completion, local faults will also decrease.

The Energy Minister said that some people are spreading false propaganda about non-availability of electricity, which is reprehensible and malicious. The electricity workers have also fulfilled the highest demand of 65.56 crore units in a day in the state. This is the biggest record of one day in the country. Keeping in view the future demand, purchase contracts have been signed with the states which have higher power generation. One lakh kilometer of AB cable was installed by replacing the worn out wires. About 19 lakh new poles were installed and six lakh transformers were replaced. The capacity of power generation units has been increased by six to 10 percent. Soon the state will start getting electricity from many new power generation units.
