BJP candidate Dara Singh Chauhan filed his nomination in the UP Legislative Council by-election on Thursday. Dara Singh reached Vidhan Bhavan from BJP state headquarters to file nomination under the leadership of party state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary. On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak along with other ministers of the state government and party officials were also present. According to party sources, the core committee of UP BJP had prepared the panel for the by-elections and sent it to the central leadership. The name of Dara Singh Chauhan, who left SP and joined BJP, was on priority in the panel. Apart from these, other names including State Vice President Braj Bahadur Upadhyay, State Vice President Dinesh Sharma and Santosh Singh were included. The central leadership agreed to the name of Dara Singh Chauhan. After resigning from SP, Dara Singh had lost the by-election from Ghosi assembly constituency, since then there was talk of sending Dara Singh to the Legislative Council and today he filed his nomination.

Speculations were being made about making him a minister.

There were speculations that Dara Singh Chauhan would be made a minister even after the assembly by-election on Ghosi seat, but Dara and along with him, SubhaSP President Om Prakash Rajbhar are still waiting. Dara Singh Chauhan is considered close to Home Minister Amit Shah. He comes from the Noniya community which is considered very influential in Purvanchal. In the by-election, he could not even get the votes of his community completely and lost to SP candidate Sudhakar Singh by about 42 thousand votes. On joining BJP from SP, Dara Singh Chauhan had said that in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, BJP will win all 80 seats in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister of the country for the third time.

Dara Singh’s wealth increased by Rs 1 crore in two years

The assets of BJP candidate Dara Singh Chauhan in the Legislative Council by-election have increased by Rs 1 crore in two years. In the affidavit submitted along with the nomination papers, Dara Singh has stated that he has movable assets worth Rs 18.25 lakh and his wife has movable assets worth Rs 21.12 lakh. He has stated that he has immovable assets worth Rs 4.20 crore and his wife has immovable assets worth Rs 1.10 crore. Thus, Dara Singh has assets worth Rs 5.68 crore. In the affidavit submitted by Dara Singh along with his nomination papers for Assembly Elections 2022, Dara Singh had shown movable assets worth Rs 59.34 lakh and his wife’s movable assets worth Rs 19.37 lakh. Dara Singh had also shown that he had immovable assets worth Rs 3 crore and his wife had immovable assets worth Rs 80 lakh. Thus during that time Dara had total assets of Rs 4.58 lakh.
