A fire broke out on Thursday night in three subdivisions of Electricity Corporation in Maharajganj. During the fire all the government records kept in the office got burnt. The market of discussions regarding the incident of sudden fire has become hot. Because about one thousand electricity bills have to be checked in these offices. Five people have also been suspended in the past for rigging the electricity bill. However, considering the matter as serious, on the instructions of the Chief Engineer, the Superintending Engineer, Maharajganj has constituted a five-member team for departmental enquiry.
Maharajganj district is in discussion since last year regarding rigging in electricity bill. More than one thousand electricity bills are to be checked here. Power Corporation Chairman M Devaraj has constituted a special audit team of five accountants. This team will investigate the irregularities in the bills of 2022 and 2023 in Maharajganj section. In the same case last year, the chairman had also suspended five employees involved in the irregularities in the bills.

It was disclosed on the complaint of SDO
Actually, the whole matter was opened on the complaint of Vivek Pandey, an SDO of Maharajganj division itself. The SDO had complained to the chairman by WhatsApp. In which it was written that after looking at the electricity bill dues of some consumers of the power distribution block Maharajganj, it was found that the actual outstanding amount has been wrongly reduced through the sub-division and this has caused revenue loss.
The SDO had recommended an inquiry in this regard. Last year itself, the chairman suspended five people after conducting an inquiry. Now, in this case, a special audit team was constituted to check the electricity bills of all the three subdivision offices. Now this team would have started the investigation that before this the incident of fire happened.
