Police action against illegal e-rickshaw drivers in Sambhal continued for the third day. 15 e-rickshaws were seized after checking at various places. DM Manish Bansal had instructed the city to run a campaign against illegal e-rickshaws to get rid of the problem of traffic jams. Also asked to ban the operation of illegal e-rickshaws after December 31.
Despite this, illegal e-rickshaws are running on the roads. Police and transport departments have seized 92 e-rickshaws in three days till Friday. This action has to be taken in future also. Traffic police in-charge Anuj Malik said that after Sambhal city, the campaign will also be conducted in Chandausi and Gunnaur tehsils.
Actually, more than ten thousand e-rickshaws operate in the district. There are 750 e-rickshaws registered. Due to the large number of illegal e-rickshaws, there is a problem of traffic jam. It is difficult to get out in urban areas. Minors are driving e-rickshaws. Due to this the rules are also being ignored.
Action should be taken against those making illegal e-rickshaws
E-rickshaws are being prepared illegally at many places in the district. Who sell it to poor people citing cheapness. Which is not registered later. People are bearing the brunt of this. E-rickshaws operated without registration are considered illegal. In such a situation, the question arises that those who are manufacturing e-rickshaws illegally. Why is no action being taken against them?
Female passenger faints after catching illegal e-rickshaw
The traffic police was taking action against illegal e-rickshaws at Chandausi intersection of Kotwali area at around 4 pm on Friday evening. During this time, an e-rickshaw full of women was caught by the police. During this time women protested. A woman’s condition deteriorated.
It was told that the women were going to a wedding function. The e-rickshaw driver was his relative. A woman had fainted while watching the action. Later the traffic police sent the women in an e-rickshaw.
