With the completion of the Lok Sabha elections, the state police’s campaign against criminals is intensifying. The police, which is engaged in implementing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s zero tolerance policy towards crime, has taken 79 actions against criminals in the last 15 days. Between 4 and 19 June, two notorious criminals have been killed in police encounters, while 96 criminals have been injured. 139 criminals have been arrested. However, during this period, seven policemen have also been injured.

DGP Prashant Kumar said that action is continuously being taken against 68 mafia gang members and associates identified by the government. Jaunpur’s notorious Prashant Singh alias Prince and Muzaffarnagar’s dreaded Nilesh Rai have been killed in police encounters. So far, action has been taken at various levels against 9 members of various mafia gangs. Three of them have been arrested, while action has been taken against one under the Gangster Act and against 2 under the Goonda Act.

He informed that success has been achieved in getting punishment for Bhadohi’s mafia Vijay Mishra. At the same time, success has been achieved in arresting Vinay Tyagi alias Tinku, a criminal with a reward of Rs. 50,000 from Muzaffarnagar. Asif alias Pappu Smart, a vicious criminal of Kanpur’s Saud Akhtar Gang, has also been arrested. STF has also nabbed Utkarsh Singh, an active member of Ambedkarnagar’s Ajay Singh alias Sipahi Gang. 4.4570 hectares of land of Muzaffarnagar’s notorious mafia Sushil alias Mustache has been confiscated, which is worth Rs. 4.50 crore.
