Expansion

On one hand, the Power Corporation has issued a roster of six hours of power cut in rural areas, while on the other hand, it has shut down seven production units showing minimum demand of electricity. President of Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad, Awadhesh Kumar Verma has opposed this decision of the Power Corporation.

Roster system has been implemented in the state from July 1. Under this, six hours of power cut is being done in rural areas. Local faults are a separate issue in this cut. In many districts, electricity is available for only 10 to 12 hours. On the other hand, according to the report of Uttar Pradesh State Load Dispatch Center, seven production units have been shut down citing low demand for electricity.

This includes four units of Tanda and three units of Harduaganj. Production of 1,455 MW has been reduced from these seven units. Similarly, one 250 MW unit of Harduaganj and one 660 MW unit of Jawaharpur have been shut down due to technical reasons. In this way, a total of 2,365 MW production has been shut down in the state.

President of Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad, Awadhesh Kumar Verma has demanded from Energy Minister AK Sharma and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that paddy cultivation is starting these days. In such a situation, there is more need of electricity in rural areas. Therefore, instead of shutting down power generation units, the roster system should be abolished.
