Do this if you get bitten by a monkey
CMO Dr. SP Singh said that do not panic about the wound caused by monkey bite. This wound is also treated like a wound caused by a dog bite. Wash the wound with soap and water for 5-10 minutes, not just for a few seconds. Apply antiseptic like Dettol, Betadine on it.
Rabies is caused only by dog bite, not by monkey bite, this is a misconception. Monkey bites can also cause rabies. Therefore, contact a doctor immediately after washing the wound. Get rabies injection within 24 hours.
