UP News: Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) is going to give Diwali and Dhanteras gift to its consumers in the form of GST reduction. This will make it easier for consumers to get connections or do any work. Now the consumer will have to spend less money, which will also increase the work of the department.
Giving relief to electricity consumers, the Electricity Department has given exemption in 18% GST charged for 17 works. Now the consumer will not have to pay GST on meter charge on 872. This will directly benefit the consumers taking new connections. Apart from this, consumers will also get direct benefits from GST on many other works, which is expected to reduce their electricity bills.
On the festival of Diwali, everyone waits for discounts or schemes on purchases and the market also prepares to give discounts to its consumers. Now, along with the market, government institutions have also taken advantage of this discount. Something similar is being seen in the Electricity Department where it has been announced to give exemption of 18% GST on 17 types of works to the electricity consumers. Regarding this, the officials of the electricity department are also engaged in its promotion so that more and more people can deposit the dues of the department and take new connections.
Consumers taking electricity connections have been given relief from the GST charge of Rs 872 per meter. The direct effect of which will now be felt by the customers taking new connections. The department has taken up this unique experiment to correct the name of the electricity connection and to quickly repair the faulty meter by replacing it. Let us tell you that there are more than 5 lakh electricity consumers in Ghazipur, on whom the 18% GST rate applicable on many services including new electricity connections has been removed after the instructions of the Finance Ministry.
The rule is effective from October 10
Although the notification of removal of this GST has been issued on 18th October, but if departmental officials are to be believed, it is considered to be effective from 10th October. According to departmental officials, now interest on security amount, dish connection charge, charge for reconnecting electricity connection, electricity charge on electricity theft, summon fee, security amount to be deposited in the form of OTS registration fee, OTS non payment. Now 18% GST will not be charged along with charges on change of load, change in name of new connection, extension of temporary connection.
GST cut will provide big relief
On the other hand, if we consider rural areas, then for taking a domestic connection of 1 kilo watt in rural areas, GST of Rs 144 was charged out of the fee of Rs 1365. Even for 2 kg, GST has to be paid at Rs 184. Whereas in urban areas, on taking a 1 kilo watt connection, GST was Rs 228 60 paise and on taking a domestic connection of 5 kilo watt, GST was Rs 892. At the same time, on taking commercial connection of 1 to 4 kilo watts, GST of Rs 892 has been levied, which will not be levied now.
UPPCL also implemented the order of the Central Government
Ashish Sharma, Executive Engineer, Electrical Section II, Aam Ghat, said that the Government of India has removed GST on many works of the Electricity Department. UPPCL has also implemented the order of the Central Government. GST will no longer be applicable on many services including RCDC cheque, dishonor processing fee. GST on service charge for connection and replacement of faulty meter has also been abolished. Now only deposit work will attract 18% GST. He said that there will be no GST on charges for disconnecting and connecting electricity connections and dishonor cheques.
