Uttar Pradesh Premier League: The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) is waiting for permission from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to start its T20 league. After this, the beginning of the first season of Uttar Pradesh Premier League can be seen in the month of August, in which a total of 120 players from the state can get a chance to play.
A total of 6 teams can be seen playing in the first season, in which all the matches of the tournament will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. To play in this T20 league, players must be residents of Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, a maximum of 18 players are expected to get a place in a team.
20 companies showed interest to buy 6 franchises
According to a report, 20 companies have shown their interest to buy 6 franchise teams playing in the first season. Not only the players in this T20 league, but the umpires and the coaches appointed in the teams will also be from Uttar Pradesh. A final decision is expected to be taken regarding all the 6 teams in the third week of July, while the players’ auction process can be held in the second week of August.
The first season of the tournament is expected to run from 20 to 22, in which live telecast of its matches is expected to be seen on Star Sports Network and Jio Cinema. UPCA will conduct trials of players for the upcoming Ranji season on July 26, in which better performing players can also be shortlisted for the auction. Before UPCA, many more state boards have started their T20 leagues, including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Mumbai and Karnataka boards.
