UPPCS Exam Why do students want one day one shift RO ARO exam Know what is the benefit of this

Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has decided to conduct the upcoming PCS (Preliminary) Examination 2024 on a single day. This decision has brought relief to lakhs of students appearing for competitive exams. However, the Commission has constituted a committee for the RO-ARO examination. A decision will be taken after its report comes. In this article, we are going to tell you why the candidates are demanding to conduct single day exam, what are its benefits? Let us know about it in detail.

Benefits of one day-one shift exam

The protesting candidates who want to get government jobs through UPPSC are demanding “one day-one shift”. If the examination is conducted through this, then the examination will not be conducted on different days but on one day. Due to this the question papers will not be different. Also, there will be little chance of one set being more difficult than the other.

Similar Question Paper and Difficulty Level

The biggest advantage of conducting the examination in one day-one shift is that all students will get the same question paper. When the examination is held in different shifts, there is a possibility of variation in difficulty level in different sets of question papers. This creates the problem that the question paper of one shift may be more difficult or easier than the other, which raises questions about fairness. If all students get the same set of question papers, it ensures that equal opportunities will be available to all candidates.

Opposition to the normalization process

The students are protesting against the normalization system, which was implemented by the commission. Under normalization, the score of each candidate is determined by comparing it with other candidates based on their performance. Students believe that this process affects transparency and can become a strategy to exclude deserving candidates. Holding the examination in one-day-one shift eliminates the need for normalization, as all students will be assessed equally.

Number and accessibility of examination centers
Students are also demanding that the number of examination centers should be increased, so that examinations can be conducted in all the districts. At present examination centers have been set up only in 41 districts, while there are 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh. If the examination is held on a single day and in shifts, it can be managed more effectively and more students can be included.

Issues of corruption and transparency

Students are also accusing the commission of corruption. Earlier also some officials of the Commission were arrested in paper leak cases. Therefore, they want that the examination process should be completely transparent, so that any kind of rigging or irregularity can be avoided. One day, one shift examination will promote this transparency.

reduce mental stress

Giving exams in different shifts can increase the mental pressure on students, as they are worried about their performance whether their paper was difficult or easy. If all the students take the exam at the same time, it will reduce stress and they will be able to focus on their preparation. For all these reasons, students are demanding to conduct the examinations in one day-one shift. This will provide them fairness, transparency and equal opportunities.
