Principal posts are vacant in 554 government inter colleges across the state. No initiative is being taken at the government level to fill these posts. Most of these posts are to be filled through promotion. But for this, the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting has not been held for about eight years. In such a situation, the teaching system in these schools is derailed and administrative work is being conducted on the basis of the in-charge.

There are 945 posts of GIC Principal in the state. Out of this, there is a provision to fill 430 posts through direct recruitment. Recruitment for these posts is done through Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). This recruitment has been done from time to time. Therefore, 313 posts of this category have been filled and 117 posts are vacant. On the other hand, 515 posts of Principal were to be filled by promoting GIC Assistant Teachers and Lecturers.

The seniority list was prepared for promotion but it has become controversial. Therefore, the DPC process has not been done for eight years. The officers did not resolve the dispute of the seniority list. Therefore, this matter reached the court. Due to the absence of DPC, 437 posts of principals to be filled through promotion are vacant. These schools are running on the basis of in-charge principals. The teaching work is getting affected due to the absence of a permanent principal.
