There was a huge uproar in the village on 15 February when the saffron flag of Shri Ram was taken down and burnt on the roof of village Surajpur of Chandaus Kotwali in Aligarh on the night of 14 February. The police somehow pacified the people. Police have been deployed in the village as a precautionary measure. In the presence of the police, both the parties reached an agreement. The police have also banned 40 people.
Let us tell you that on January 22, a rally was taken out in village Surajpur on the occasion of Shri Ram Pran Pratishtha. At the same time, the son of village resident Murarilal brought a saffron flag of Shri Ram from the rally and put it on his roof. On January 24, some anti-social elements of the village had taken down the flag from the roof and made it disappear. After that Murari Lal’s son had hoisted the second flag. On the night of 14th February, anti-social elements again took down the flag and set it on fire.
On February 15, the people of the village informed Shri Ram Sena and nearby people as well as the police. Angry people gathered in the village and started demanding action against those who burnt the flag. On receiving information about the uproar, CO Gabhana Subhendu Singh and Chandaus Kotwal Vinod Kumar also reached. He consoled the angry people and assured them of action. A new saffron flag was ordered and installed at the victim’s house.
Let us tell you about the house where the flag was installed. That person has the only house there, the rest are houses of people from other communities. The one who was being suspected said that he had not burnt the flag. Late in the evening, people of both the communities resigned with mutual consent in the presence of the police. Police have been deployed in the village as a precautionary measure.
