IAS Success Story: It is said that those who work hard never lose. A perfect example of this is IAS officer Ramesh Gholap. There was a time in his life when he did not even have the money to attend his father’s funeral. Not only this, she even sold bangles with her mother. But due to hard work and dedication, he cracked the UPSC exam and fulfilled his dream of becoming an IAS.
IAS officer Ramesh Gholap became a victim of polio in his childhood. When he was young, he had polio in his left leg. Not only this, there was also financial crisis in his house. Due to which he used to sell bangles on the road along with his mother. Ramesh’s father had a small bicycle shop. One day his father’s health deteriorated and the entire burden of the house fell on his mother’s shoulders. IAS officer Ramesh Gholap received his primary education from his village itself. After which he went to his uncle’s house for further studies.
I didn’t have money to go home
His father died when he was studying in 12th class. At that time, the fare from Ramesh’s uncle’s house to his house was only Rs 7, but due to being disabled, his fare was only Rs 2. But the financial situation was such that he did not even have Rs 2. After completing 12th, he enrolled in Diploma. After this he started teaching as a teacher. While teaching, he also obtained BA degree.
failed in first attempt
After which he decided to prepare for UPSC exam and he also left his job for 6 months. Attempted UPSC for the first time in 2010 but failed. Then his mother borrowed some money from the village people and sent him out to study. After going to Pune, he started preparing for UPSC without coaching. Finally cracked the Civil Services Examination in the year 2012. He had secured 287 rank in this exam. Ramesh Gholap got IAS category under handicapped quota.
